Altrusa International, Inc of Blair County, PA was chartered on October 25, 2002. Our mission is to provide volunteer service which will enhance the quality of the lives of people in our local community, nationally and internationally, through service.
Altrusa was founded and incorporated in 1917 in Nashville, TN, by Mamie L. Bass, and was the first national organization of business and professional women. In 1935, we earned our designation as an international organization as we extended into Mexico. Today, Altrusa International Clubs can be found in 14 Districts, and 19 countries, throughout the world, including New Zealand, Puerto Rico, India, Canada, Bermuda, United Kingdom, Philippines, Korea, Guatemala, Australia, Russia and the Ukraine. Additionally, in 1946, spirited by Eleanor Roosevelt, Altrusa appointed our first representative to the United Nations, recognizing Altrusa as a Non-Govermental Organization (NGO) for the purpose of working towards the brotherhood of humanity.
Altrusa International's Mission statement is to provide community service, develop leadership, foster international understanding and encourage fellowship by an international network of executives and professionals in diversified career classifications.
Our Meetings are held the 3rd Saturday of the month at 9:00 a.m. at Hoss' Corporate Office
